I\u2019ve just started reading, \u201cInstant Influence: How to Get Anyone to Do Anything,\u201d by Michael Pantalon, and I want to share something with you.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s his formula for getting anyone to change.<\/p>\n
Instead of telling<\/i> them why they might want to change, you ask<\/i> them why they might want to change, using these six steps:<\/p>\n
Step 1:<\/b> Why might you change? (Or if the person is you, ask yourself, \u201cWhy might I change?\u201d)<\/p>\n
Step 2:<\/b> How ready are you to change \u2013 on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 means \u201cnot ready at all\u201d and 10 means, \u201ctotally ready?\u201d<\/p>\n
Step 3:<\/b> Why didn\u2019t you pick a lower number? (Or if the \u2018influencee\u2019 picked 1, either ask the second question again, this time about a smaller step toward change, or ask, \u201cWhat would it take for that 1 to turn into a 2?\u201d)<\/p>\n
Step 4:<\/b> Imagine you\u2019ve changed. What would the positive outcomes be?<\/p>\n
Step 5<\/b>: Why are those outcomes important to you?<\/p>\n
Step 6:<\/b> What\u2019s the next step, if any?<\/p>\n
That\u2019s it. I invite you to try this one yourself first, before you try it on someone else.<\/p>\n
See what happens. I know when I used it to make myself give up a certain food that I was practically addicted to, it worked like a charm.<\/p>\n
Next I\u2019m going to try it on bigger things and see what happens.<\/p>\n
